Summer Haps and a ScrapFX Canvas

Hi There!  Boy oh boy its been hot, hot, hot and you know what??  I'm not complaining one wee bit.  I'll take this heat over being cold any day for real.

My little chickadee, a.k.a niece, was here for some days along with my nephew, and we had to make a shopping run to get some things for while they were here.  On top of the list were foam water blasters for keeping cool!!! The bean bag in the back was already set to be bought for my daughter's room ;)

Bubbles were a must have as well!!!  And yes my lil' chickadee is wearing mittens in this photo - ha!

And you know what? Having a big cousin with a job is totally cool because when you hit up the mall (this was on the day we picked them up because there isn't one in our area) he not only gets himself a hat but he gets you one too!!  So proud of my guy.  It was the perfect thing to have for watching the soccer game big cuz' was in later that evening.

So yeah it was totally fun having these kiddos here with us for just under a week - really bummed to see them go.  My baby girl went with them to help watch the Chickadee while her mama works throughout the rest of July and then they are all moving to South Carolina. :(  Thank goodness we'll see them lots before that time!!

So it seems appropriate that today I share with my full reveal of the canvas I made recently for ScrapFX using lots of the mini chippies and tons of their alphas.  My niece and nephew are definitely sunshine to my day and having them here was absolutely delightful.

To see more detail on this canvas and the products used you can check out the full reveal here.

Thanks so much for letting me share some pictures and memories of whats been going down around here, along with a scrappy project - how has your summer been??

I'll see you in a just bit with new things and a re-energized outlook on blogging!!!  I can hardly wait to share all I've been thinking of and I hope you'll be looking forward to it too!!

Take good care sweetie peeps!

Golden Skies - Skissedilla Summer Sketch

Hey Sweetie Peeps!  Its been a bit and I do apologize for that.  Right now I've got some things in the works taking up my time - very exciting, but can't share just yet - and I also am working out some ideas on how I want to change things up here.  There is so much I want to share (tutorials, AJs, tags, altered art, canvases, scrap pages, life moments, cards, PL, etc.) yet always to tend to fail/flop in doing so and my goal is for you to get so much more out of coming here. So yeah as The Brady Bunch would say, "When its time for change, you've got to rearrange...." Does anyone out there remember that song? Ha!

For today though I'm sharing the Skissedilla Summer Sketch created by the wonder woman of sketches, Nabon.  This sketch has a longer running time than our normal weekly ones so there is plenty of time for you to join in and I do hope to see lots of you joining in!

For my take I did a little rearranging of the photos but other than that I followed along with the sketch fairly well.  Of course I had to use some summer photos and chose some from last year when we were driving home from a family outing.  The sunset was gorgeous and much to my kiddos dismay I had my hubs pull over when I noticed one of my favorite herds close to the road.  I so love cows!!!

My background is made up of some messy painting and stenciling with paste, easy peasy.  Then I layered on a piece of text paper I used for misting over.  This is one of my little tricks - I use text paper in the box I mist in then I have it for later use.  The colors blend themselves as I go along and I always have beautiful pieces at the ready.  The sun up top is a hand-carved stamp stamped on canvas with metallic paint, chipboard is ScrapFX, and the rest of the page is really put together with just bits and pieces.

And that my friends is how my summer sketch page came together.  Be sure you head on over to Skissedilla to check out the rest of the team's inspiration and get on creating a page of your own too!!

I'll be back with a ScrapFX share and then there may be a break again while I continue to work on revamps.  Hang in there with me sweetie peeps, good things to come!
Have wonderful days, take good care!!!

2 Lil' Bums - Skissedilla #217

Hey, Hey!!  Its Wednesday and there is a fantabulous sketch up at Skissedilla for you to get your craft on with.

I always dig the artsy feel of the sketches the talented Nabon.  She blows my mind!!!  Sometimes I think I could just hang them up as is - ha!

My take this week involved some play with: an older photo (ala 2006 from our FL trip) - 4x6 - gasp! (giggles), the Uncharted Waters line by Glitz Design (love), watercolors, Liquitex products - fluid ink & paste, sequins, new goodies from Paper Issues (oh yeah I hit up that 50% off sale!!), some other various texture items for layers, and of course my ScrapFX chippies and a new stencil was put to work to create those spectacular little dots!  This is what the stencil looks like:

Random Dots Stencil

Sorry for the blurry image - not sure what that is all about - but I wanted to show how fun this stencil is.  Perhaps I should have shot the actual stencil.  I love the freedom in this design and the actual stencil itself is really flexible so I was able to manipulate it all over my background to get just the portions I wanted.  Super important since I don't readily use a whole stencil much.

This is my full page reveal.  I had such a good time reminiscing while creating.  Hard to believe the kidlets in this photo are teens now! O.o  Up to this point I'd used some of my Uncharted Waters stash here and there, but this was the first real nautical page I'd created with it.....I can honestly say going in to this I didn't really care for anchors......coming out I am a bit more keen on them.  Don't think I'll be jumping all over them when I see them - just know I can use these papers better now! :D

The background was super easily put together with my paste, watercolors, and I soo wish you could see the all the misting!!!!  I used my Tsukineko sprays - Goosebumps and Pssts!  to be exact and the texture and shimmer is out of this world!!  These are some of my favorite sprays eva'.  I may have to do a little tag or try again with a shot to help you see the awesomeness of these mists.  They're that good people!!!

With that, I'll leave you for today and wish you a grand one!  Thanks for the well wishes on drying out - so far so good.  Today its supposed rain again.... the skies tell the tale it probably will.  We've been enjoying our days in the sun though and will get out and enjoy today as well ;)

Take care!!

Welcoming July with Open Arms!

Hi There!  Its July, can you believe it? Summer is flying by - here in my neck of the woods we're just finally getting the taste of it!!
Much of June looked this:

Ominous skies looming over head and blowing in quite quickly.  This would happen all throughout the day off and on, day and night.  For the last two throughout June. Boo.
With this to follow:

Sheets of hard rain, along with high winds and hail at times, would come from those skies, lasting in various time frames.  Leaving pools of water and messes everywhere.  Heat and humidity would come after.  Just when you thought it was safe to go and do something - another wave would come in. Sigh.....
To say we've been cooped up would be an understatement.  We've dealt with terrible storms off and on for a couple weeks, horrendous winds, flash flood warnings, and it goes on.  The farm fields around our house did indeed flood - poor farmers, our ceilings sprung leaks, kennels are slop holes - poor dogs, and our basement is flooded as well.  Good thing its really not used since our house is a 100+ year farm house and the floors down there are dirt - yes dirt! - Its a mess.

But with all messes and yuck - you find the good, right?

In between storms this happened:

My boy has been holding it down at a new job and really lovin' the fact he is earning his own income.  When we were out strolling around town one day after dropping his sis off at softball practice he surprised me by taking me out for an ice cream!  It was so lovely to spend time with my almost 17 year old on a date. :)

And of course there has been oodles of crafting going on since we haven't been able to get out much!

Lots of ScrapFX chippies were used on this creation along with a stencil on the canvas.  Other than that she is made up of oodles of bits and pieces of found items that had been laying around my space for far too long!
I showed you a sneaky peek of this little Fairy Art Doll creation in my last post and since then the reveal was posted the ScrapFX blog so I can share her here now.  Kind of funky and different - totally fun to create.  To get more details on how she was created you can head on over to the full reveal post by clinking here

She shares a post with this creation:

I cannot tell you how much I love the mini ScrapFX chipboard pieces!!  They really are so versatile for all sorts of crafty projects.  You should seriously put a bug in your favorite crafty store's ear about carrying ScrapFX products!!  Its really very easy for them to get started!
A mixed media canvas based on one of my favorite songs I used to sing to my kiddos when they were itty bits!!  To see the full reveal of this creation I'd love for you to go here and let me know what you think.

Well that is all for today, I'll be back again soon as I've so much to share now that our internet is up consistently with sunny skies in the forecast for some days!!  Hooray!  Bring on summer please. :)

Take good care and have wonderful Mondays!
