I am glad to be almost complete with my doctor appointments this week!! Thank you to all my wonderful friends in the online world who have been praying for me and sending love and HUGS. They are soo appreciated and really comforting during this continued time of health limbo!!! Everything I have gone through this week has gone as well as can be expected and I am just hoping my tummy stops rebelling sometime soon over being poked and prodded soo much!!
What I love about Wednesdays is that it means there is a new sketch up on Let's Scrap!!! This week it is a LO sketch and as always Cheri has done a wonderful job creating a 2 pager that can easily be done in 1 pagers as well!!! 1 pagers definitely suit me and my photos better so I am always happy to get 2 sketches for the price of 1!!!
I have been SOOOO excited about this weeks reveal because it is my scrap page that incorporates my new love of mixed media!!!! Yup, it was time to kick it up another notch and I finally incorporated my love for all things messy into my scrappin'!!!
So, without further ado here is my page:
I Teach
I have been wanting to do a page for so long reflecting my profession as a teacher and the love I have for the children I am blessed to work with in the inner city of Milwaukee. What these kiddos have gone through in their little time here is amazing and I know that when they come into my classroom it is a safe haven from all they are exposed to in their neighborhoods. Using these new lines from Sassafras Lass combined with mixed media was a perfect combo in my opinion.
Here are some more shots of the LO so you can see all the details:
I needed this LO to express me doing more than just teaching these kiddos.... they truly become my own and it is rare if I don't have one or more of them coming home with me on a Friday night after school to hang out for the weekend with me and my family. My DH says it perfectly... each year I get a new class our family grows!!! I covered some dollar store chipboard with Sass papers to create my own letters for this and yes, those are real paperclips. I used gesso, alcohol inks, and walnut ink to create the background.
I just love that little sunshine!!! It really reflects how much my kiddos brighten my day!
I absolutely ADORE this lil' birdy from the nerdy bird collection!!!! Perfect for a LO including my lil' nerdy birds!!! The trees were created using the new Maya Road mini tree stamps and I am in love with them!!! I adore that they worked so well on patterned paper!
Here you can see the dimension of this page and how everything is placed on top of the paperclips.... it was a long process but sooo worth it!
Lastly a shot that doesn't show all to well my journaling so I will share that with you here... the way I want it to read is:
I do more than Teach. I change lives one at a time. I look at each child placed in my care as a blessing and make them my own for the time they spend with me and beyond. I help children see potential in themselves and aid in unleashing it. I am a motivator when it seems like there is no hope. I am a believer of each child being able to do things they never imagined. I do whatever it takes to make sure each child feels and knows they are loved! To keep going no matter what and then I teach!
Thank you for enduring all the many photos of this project.... can you tell it is dear to my heart??! I love these children and am so blessed God has placed them in my life. They are the same age as my own DD and all are now in 4th grade. I still get to work with them at the school and spend much time with them and their families outside of school. God is so good to me to have grown my family by leaps and bounds!!
