Always - a Follow-Up Post

Morning.  It is an absolutely gorgeous start to the day around here!!  Its already 52 here (way beyond our norm of 40 somethin) and is expected to get into the 70s!  Yahoo.  I enjoyed (as much as one can) chores this morning and even took a run around the yard with my rooster!  Yep, you read right - rooster.  I call him my homie and he follows me everywhere!  Check out how handsome he is:

This rooster brings me too much joy, crazy I know but it truly is the little things in life.  If you could see his chicken booty run you'd know what I mean. LOL

Moving on to why I came here, a follow up  post to yesterday.  I won't go into a recap - you can go here if you'd like - but I thought this LO goes along really well with what I hope my daughter, and son for that matter, keep in their lives as they grow into young adults. 

This page is about 8.5 x 5.5.  I used a mix of scraps from Crate Paper, Jenni Bowlin, October Afternoon, and Echo Park and had a delightful time layering them up.  I've found this page size is perfect for me when I scrap about myself - something I'm trying to do on a monthly basis - so far so good.   *This LO was published in  SNR.

Mmmm Studio Calico cloud stamps embossed with American Crafts Zing and a tiny doily from the Chip Chop Shop.  Another love for the 8.5 x 5.5 size is I can run it through my Cuttlebug - so I did using a Tim Holtz Sissix folder.  Then I brushed yellow glitter glue over the raised rays.

I knew I had to use those mini, mini BINGO cards from the Jenni Bowlin packaging - love using those almost more than the regular sized.  Added in a few bits of paper, some misted trim, twine, brads and bling.  I have a thing for paperbags and burlap these days.  Burlap has been an obsession since I was a kid, LOL.  The calendar card tucked in the trim holds journaling on the bottom and a dew drop to mark my birthday date.

Hope you have glorious days - I'm hoping to get a bit creative and take some photos - its too pretty out not to.  I think a photo shoot with a newly turned 12 year old girl may be in order this afternoon! Beyond the regularly used cool iPhone photography apps out there, which hidden gem do you suggest I try out for this?

Happy Wednesday Everyone! I am so excited to really be getting my scrap on again! The mojo has been flowing and it feels good to participate again at some of my favorite places to be like My Sketch World and Let's Scrap!

I used a lot of different manufacturers on this one: Studio Calico, October Afternoon, Basic Grey, K&Co., Martha Stewart, Cosmo Cricket, and punches from Fiskars and EK Success.

I have been wanting to use this cow from Cosmo Cricket for soo long! I just {heart} cows! Really happy to have my Cosmo Cricket Unity stamp set from A Walk Down Memory Lane as well! That is where the stamped sentiments on the cardstock stickers came from.

This bee is from the Unity stamp set as well. I was really pleased with how my banner came out and plan on layering up banners more often, it really adds a lot of character, don't cha think?

These little chairs from Studio Calico kind of threw me for a loop, but I loved them and thought they were so stinkin' cute.

Pluggin' Away

Happy Sunday friends in blogland! It is a gorgeous day and even though I have barely had any sleep I am feeling quite energized and ready to go! We'll see how long it lasts! LOL!

I am pluggin' away at all the challenges over at My Sketch World! Have you been there to check out the lengthy list of inspiration for the Spring Fling crop that runs through the end of the month? Oh my!! It is rockin' for shiggity!

I just had to do the challenge posted by Wendi. It's a May Day challenge and you had to use 7 different ribbons and 7 different flowers. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be!! But, I did it and I LOVE the LO I created so wanted to be sure to share it with you all!

Little Girls Are Heaven's Flowers


I just had soo much fun creating this LO, I mean how can you not have fun when you are working with Sassafras?? I {heart} Sass! These papers are from the Cherry Delicious line.

Make a Wish



For this project I used some Jenni Bowlin banner stickers (just love those), mini BINGO cards, reverse tiny alphas, and the notebook paper is from one of her mini books. The diecut paper I used as my background is also from Jenni Bowlin. All of these items are available in the store for 25% off.

It worked out perfectly that my daughter's birth date numbers were right next to each other on teh BINGO card. I used some of the circle letter stickers from the banner sticker set to create the caterpillar with her name. The patterned papers are from the Cosmo Cricket Earth Love line and so are the chipboard flowers. These are also available in the store.

Champion Sized Love



I just really loved working with all her products to make this LO come together. Aren't those lil' banner stickers adorable? And how about the tickets? Those were cut from some fun patterned paper. I even recycled by using the packaging from one of her BINGO card sets and cutting out the mini one!

New Sketch

Hi Everyone!! I am a little late in sharing this with you, but there is still plenty of time for you to check out the new sketch up at Let's Scrap! This week's sponsor is Memorable Seasons and they are offering up $25.00 to shop with!! WooHOO!! Gotta love when you can pick out your own goodies!

I had a lot of fun working with the right hand side of the sketch. The square grid was so appealing to me!!

Carefree



DD and I had a blast last weekend doing a mini photo shoot outside!! I wanted to take some time and capture her, as she is just growing up too fast! Where does the time go? I just love this picture of her and the first word that came to my mind was Carefree, so I had to title it that!!
I love how the burlap really added a lot of texture to this LO, but wanted to fem it up a bit so I added the eyelet lace.

I used Maya Road chipboard alphas for the title. Blotted them with alcohol inks and sanded a bit to rough them up.



The ticket is from Tim Holtz and to create the burlap flowers I just stamped right on it. Then added a bit of glitter to make them a bit more girly. This picture also shows how I added some mesh behind the photo to again add a bit of texture and visual interest.



The flowers are from Maya Road and covered with some home made glimmer mists. I actually used them as a mask for another project and had them at my disposable as a bellie. I love how the pearls turned out for the swirls and will surely do this again. To alter the burlap a bit, I painted some gesso onto it, then blotted with a couple colors of alcohol inks, and painted on a thin layer of home made glimmer mist, although that doesn't show up to well in the photo.



I have been looking for lots of ways to recycle packaging these days and get the most out of my products while cutting down on waste. The little bingo card is from Jenni Bowlin's packaging.
